The rabbits. Bunnies are everywhere when I walk around. They hop and stop, stare at me and wiggle their ears. I want to invite them back to my music room and play songs for them by Frightened Rabbit and Echo & the Bunnymen. I'm pretty sure they would hop all around the room with me.
Volunteering to make that Friday 5:30am delivery to the airport because the sun rises over the flat farmland at 5:45, usually a spectacular display. On my way there and back I listen to that day's new music. I drive around a silent, seemingly uninhabited campus. Windows down.
Being outside without a coat! The feeling of being ahead of the weeds in the garden, knowing it is a very false sense of security, but I bask in it anyway. The kids, everywhere, fill my heart up. Also the work of Black women gives me hope and joy. Sun. Opening my heart even when I don’t want to.
